Thanks to all the organizers for another great "Sonny's Scramble" And special thanks to Bill and Helen Logan for getting all the wagering stats looked after. Already are looking forward to next year!

Hole-in-One by Pat Alair

You sometimes hear of golfers getting a hole-in-one. But how often do you hear of an 80 year old potting that elusive hole-in-one. Well our BCC member Pat Alair accomplished the feat this week by getting a hole-in-one on our # 15 hole using a 5 wood. Pat was playing with Smith Hazzard and George Hamilton. And not only did Pat get a hole-in-one, he shot under his age by 2 shots, shooting a 78. Congratulations Pat. Those are simply amazing accomplishments.

Teams Drawn for Sonny's Scramble

Over 100 members, both men and ladies, filled the BCC golf lounge Friday evening to witness team selection for "Sonny's Scramble". Following a burger and salads meal, Sonny's member volunteers drew 36 three-person teams. Based on handicaps, players were separated into "A", "B" and "C" categories. One person was drawn from each category to made up a team. The result produced very even teams which will play the "Sonny Scramble" Saturday, July 31, in a 12:30 shotgun start. Saturday morning, members can wager on their favourite team. A banquet and prizes will follow play Saturday.

Following the draw, Peter Gilder introduced a little "Texas Holdem" game which some members participated in to round out the Friday evening. Good luck Saturday to all the teams. Check back here for the results of the 2010 version of the BCC's "Sonny's Scramble".

Storage Building Gets Concrete Floor

Thanks to our Building Commitee for directing the drive to get a brand smacking new concrete floor for the BCC storage building just across from the east door of the curling rink. Seen in the picture is Thousand Islands Concrete staff finishing the ramp area into the storage building. Some funds are being made available to the BCC from the 1000 Islands Community Development Corp., which will assist in covering the floor project. The new floor will allow items to be stored properly, and will also provide storage for some of the new electric carts.

St Mary's Tournament at BCC Raises Funds

The calm before the storm ... literally!

A fund raising golf tournament was organized by St. Mary's staff and parent volunteers and hosted at the BCC Wednesday. Some 124 golfers headed out at 1:00 PM in a shot-gun format. The tournament was in aid of both the Junior and Senior St. Mary's Basketball Teams. Both teams will head for a five day trip to Walt Disney World in December and particiate in a huge basketball tournament. Congratulations to Matt Riel, Vice Principal and Coach and Jeff Bates, parent volunteer for such an impressive undertaking. Now, back to golf ... with five holes to go and thunder and lightning, the players had to leave the course. But dinner followed and even with a shortened game we are sure they met their goals (or is that baskets) and had a great day at the BCC.

Executive Golf Visit the BCC

Executive Golf (EG) recently visited the BCC on a Sunday afternoon. Our own Kelly Winsor and Jack Kenny played as guests of 18 Exec Golf members who travelled to the BCC from the Ottawa area for one of their "Slammer Tour" matches. Slammers are match play events for usually around 20 of their members, played at various courses in the greater Ottawa area. Low score was a 74, so they have some great players! And yes, Kelly and Jack held their own! EG are well organized and a fun bunch. Following golf, it was a few beer, dinner and prizes. The next Slammer at the BCC is scheduled for the Saturday afternoon of August 14th. For more info on EG and their many programs, check out their web sit at www.executivegolf.ca.

BCC Canada Day Golf Fun Time

To help celebrate Canada Day at the BCC, the course was set up like never before. The red & white tees were combined and flags were placed in some very challenging locations (#16 had to be the nastiest with #2 a close second). The set up held for regular play throughout the day, then at 4:00 pm a scramble was held with small Canada Flags marking some very unusual tee locations. A BBQ and prizes followed the scramble.
A special thanks to Dale Watts, Paul Darby and Anne and Bob Pearce for setting up the event. Also thanks to Ron, Derek, Denise, Lawrence and staffs for making this special BCC Canada day event such a great time.
The next fun member event is Sonny's Scramble July 30 & 31, 2010.
