BCC Golf Course Ready to Open April 28th for 2015 Season

The Brockville Country Club golf course will open for play Tuesday April 28, 2015. It has been a hard cold winter, but the course has come through it in fine fashion and is in great shape. A work crew of some 40 plus, made up of staff and members, conducted a clean-up on Sunday morning, April 19th.
You will notice some exciting changes when you play the course. An example is the large rock face on the right side of the fairway across from our stately big oak tree on hole #7. The work crew has exposed the rock making it much more visually interesting and will surely direct more golf balls hit onto the rock back onto the fairway. The picture below gives an idea of what it will look like.
Congratulations to all our volunteers for coming out and helping to clean up our golf course of winter residue. Your contributions are very much appreciated. Now instead of rakes and shovels, it can be golf clubs that you start swinging! Trust everyone will have a great 2015 golf season. And don't forget to signed up for one or more of the various golf leagues. It is a great way to enhance your club experience.

"Uppity Improv" One Year Anniversary Held

Saturday, April 4, 2015 - The Uppity Improv Society's  one year anniversary Fool's Day Show was held at the Brockville Country Club Saturday evening. The BCC's main dinning room was converted to incorporate a cabaret stage and seating right in front of the stage. Lights and sound added to the setting. Some 70 people attended the show dubbed "To REVIVE a MOCKINGBIRD". It was a hilarious evening of improvised comedy where suggestions from the audience drove the show.
Congratulations to Mark and Laura Oliver and Curt Geneau for a year of improvised comedy. The Uppity Improv Society meets Tuesday evenings at the Brockville Country Club for rehearsals and should you wish to get involved, the Society would welcome your participation.

Curling Wraps up with Year End Banquet - No Fooling!

Wednesday, April 1, 2015 saw some 80 Brockville County Club curlers enjoying a delicious meal at their year-end banquet held in the Club's curling lounge. The luncheon was attended by curlers from the Monday and Wednesday senior leagues as well as the Men's Coffee Club. A big thank you to Wayne Byers for organizing the senior afternoon curling and Warner Bischof for convening the Coffee Club.
All curling leagues warp up this week and soon members should be out swinging the golf clubs. A quick turn-around is needed to "take the ice out" and convert the curling rink into the "Granite Hall" in time to host a major Brockville & District Hospital Foundation fund raising Gala being held April 25th and the first BCC Summer Series Dinner/Show/Dance featuring Kelli Trottier, May 2nd.
