Brooke Henderson Plays Charity at The BCC

On Saturday, September 23, 2014, the Brockville Country Club was pleased to host Brooke Henderson, the #1 rated female amateur golfer in the world, as she played in a 9-hole charity match. The match, for the St. John Ambulance capital campaign, was organized by Dave Dargie, campaign chair, who played with Brooke and 94-year-old John Williams and Pat Markovich who won her spot in a draw.
Approximately 75 members, guests and the media followed Brooke and her playing partners around the course for the 9 holes. Three lucky juniors, Sarah Cushing, Gavin White and Owen Webster, were able to carry Brooke's golf bag for three holes each. Imagine, they can say they caddied for Brooke Henderson. Brooke's mother and grandmother were also in the entourage.
It was a great day for a good cause and a real pleasure to see Brooke play at the Brockville Country Club.

The Buddy Holly Dinner/Show/Dance Exceptional

Saturday, May 10, 2014 - The Brockville Country Club hosted the first of their 2014 Summer Series of Dinners, Shows, Dances in the "Granite Hall" Saturday, May 10th. It was a wonderful evening.
Attended by a great crowd of some 220 members and guests, they were treated to a served 3-course meal prepared by Chef Jason and his staff and served by Emily and her staff. A very tasty meal indeed.
Following the meal and introductions by Bob Lacocque, the "Buddy Holly Lives" show was featured. The group, made up of Dave Bull (Buddy), Stuart Pike (J. I. Allison) and Marty Crapper (Joe E. Manldin) played their role exceptionally well in their Buddy Holly music, costumes; even down to a southern accent. So well in fact one person was overheard asking how the BCC were able to attract the group all the way from Texas. Didn't have the heart to say they are from Kingston.
Great show! The dance floor was very busy most of the night and with applause resulting in a well deserved encore. Perhaps we will have them back next year.
The BCC presents a unique venue for Brockville and area with a delicious meal, first class entertainment and dancing, all under one roof. Watch for the Kelli Trottier show coming up in June.

BCC Attends Bridal Show at Memorial Center

Sunday February 23, 2014 - The Brockville Country Club has one of the best locations to host a wedding reception in Brockville and surrounding area. A beautiful setting overlooking the golf course from the dining room and large balcony and a great kitchen that can fine tune a wonderful meal to meet an individual party's needs. And to make the point and solicit additional bookings, Emily and Jack "manned" a booth at the 2014 Bridal Show at Brockville's Memorial Center, Sunday Feb 23rd.
There was good traffic throughout the session and many potential wedding parties; some looking for a 2014 venue and others planning early for 2015. It was a good day which hopefully will bring additional wedding parties to the Brockville Country Club.

The BCC Participates in Mall Golf Show

Saturday, February 22, 2014 - Well they called it a Golf Show! With just over a week notice that the Brockville Mall would host a "Golf Show" it wasn't much time to prepare or get the word out in the community. In the end, four golf courses participated Saturday and Sunday, Feb 22-23 at the Brockville Mall. Those being the Brockville Country Club. eQuinelle, Upper Canada and Prescott. Derek and Jack manned the booth which covered all aspects of the BCC: Our great golf course; Golf memberships, Pro Shop; Training; Curling; Food and Beverage; Entertainment etc.
This was a good start and we received some very good membership leads as well as selling a little merchandise. Hopefully the mall will publicize the event next year and the Golf Show develops into a much larger event.

BCC President Ray Coaches Junior Rink to National Championships

It takes years of dedication. Ray Bushfield, our BCC President, has been coaching a men's junior team for the past two years. Last year the team lost the Ontario Final and set their goal for 2014.
The junior rink consist of (L to R), Ryan McCrady, Doug Kee, Matt Haughn and Cole Lyon-Hatcher. Ray can be seen at the back. All four players attend university and college in Ottawa. To win Ontario, the curlers had to win their zone competition in early November in Manotick. This enabled the team to compete in the regional playdowns at the Royal Kingston in late November. That win enabled the team to attend the Ontario Provincial Championships in Gananoque January 2 - 6, 2014. They won the round robin which placed them in the championship game ... which they won. So one goal met!
Ten days later Ray and his team headed to Liverpool, Nova Scotia for the M&M Canadian Junior National Championships. The 11 day event consisted of 14 junior men's teams and 14 junior women's teams representing each province and territory including Northern Ontario. The rink of Ryan, Doug, Matt and Cole advanced to the championship round but came up one win short of making the final three playoff round.
CONGRATULATIONS Ray to you and your junior team for such a great showing representing Ontario.

The BCC Launches its 100th Anniversary with Fabulous News Year's Eve Gala

December 31, 2013 - The Brockville Country Club was the scene of a wonderful New Year's Eve Gala that brought in 2014 and the Club's 100th Anniversary Year-Long Celebrations.
Two hundred and twenty (220) members and guests attended. A "Sold Out" crowd! The main dining room was full; the board room was full, and the curling lounge was full. The organizing committee, chaired by Linda Lumsden, tied it all together by beautifully decorating all sections with black & white table settings, shimmering icicles and balloons.
Chef Jason and his kitchen staff prepared a superb 3-course dinner and Emily and her staff did a fantastic job of serving the meals to all table locations spread throughout the club. Following dinner we were entertained by Tim Hallman and his band which also featured Cliff Edwards of "The Bells" fame. Speakers were positioned around the building so that all areas were in the swing of things.
The BCC was rocking. It was a wonderful evening and the New Year's Gala was a great way to launch the Club's 100th anniversary celebrations. The next Dinner/Show & Dance is January 18, 2014 in BCC's main dining room. Check the flier below; sign up early and don't miss what will be another exciting event as we celebrate BCC's 100th.
