BCC Attends City's Home & Recreation Show

Members of the Membership & Publicity Committee were active Friday and Saturday, April 26-27, 2013 'manning" a booth at the City of Brockville's Home & Recreation Show.
The booth covered a full range of BCC's offerings from Golf; Curling: Pro Shop; Wedding Receptions to BCC's Summer Series of Dinners & Shows. We had a lot to talk about and perhaps even attracted a few new members as well as participants to our May 11th Dinner & Show featuring Gordie Tapp & The Swing Tones.
Many thanks to Committee members Roger Rhodes, Jim Elsasser. Alma & Chris Hansen, Klyde Brayton, Bill Duck & Jack Kenny for working the booth during the two day event.

Brockville Country Club "OPEN" for 2013 Season

The Brockville Country Club OPENED Wednesday morning, April 24th for the 2013 season. The course faired the winter well and is in great shape. The opening was fairly warm with sunny periods in the morning. As the day progress showers did occur but many of our golfing members played on.
Lawrence and his crew have been busy getting the course in shape and members will see many changes. The most evident will be the new and bright sand in our sand traps.
The weekend weather looks good, so we are sure many members will start their season. Also the Men's and Ladies' leagues are getting organized and will soon be in operation. Have a GREAT 2013 season!

BCC Golf Course Still Has Ice & Snow on North Side

Everyone is getting anxious to get the Brockville Country Club golf course open. When you look at the course from the clubhouse, it looks great! However, on the north side, over the substantial ridge and behind the trees, the story is much different.
Hole #6 at the turn illustrates the amount of ice and snow still on the course. And the #5 fairway still has snow all the way along the tree line.
The second photo shows #16 green still with snow and ice on it and up the path to #17. Lawrence and crew are monitoring daily. We just need some nice warm days to get rid of the snow and get the grass growing. But shouldn't be too long now and we will be back golfing!

BCC Curling Season Ends with Skating Party

The curlers have wrapped up their season for 2012/2013. And now the ice comes out and the curling rink will go through its transition to become the 'Granite Hall" for the Club's Summer Series of Dinner & Shows and special events. But before that happens, members were invited to skate on the curling ice. And many took advantage during the weekend of April 6-7. Now we trust our curling members will get those clubs out and move to the golf course.

New 2013 BCC Golf Season Just Around Corner

It may be cool and the snow has been holding on, especially on the back side of the course, but the Brockville Country Club golf season is just around the corner.
New sand has arrived and is in our parking lot. Lawrence and his team plan to add the new sand to our traps before the course opens ... assuming the weather cooperates.
Also arrived is the Club's new fleet of 50 golf carts. The supplier still needs to install roofs, wind-shields and the golf club rain covers, but our new carts will be ready to go as our season opens.
And also new this is is a brand new beverage and snack cart. We are sure members and guests will appreciate the expanded food and beverage service the BCC will be able to bring onto the golf course with the new service cart.
So tune up those clubs. We should be golfing at the BCC before you know it!!!

Derek's Winter Academy Tunes Golfers

Brockville Country Club's Pro, Derek MacDonald has run another very successful Winter Golf Academy. Many golf members were able to work on their swings throughout the winter months with instruction from Derek. Using golf training software, Derek is able to visually show members their swing lines and work on improvements. The weather is getting better and the snow is leaving, so soon the nets, set up in BCC's golf lounge, will be removed and players can get back outside and on the course.
NEW TECHNOLOGY COMING
Derek continues to push the limit in his training program. A new TRACKMAN doppler radar system, which measures ball data and club data is being added to Derek's arsenal. The equipment is industry's leading choice for swing and ball flight analysis. Trackman will be available as the driving range opens and Derek is booking lessons utilizing Trackman NOW, so book your lesson(s) soon!
