BCC Ladies Rink Wins Best Western Challenge Provincial 2015 Championship

Congratulations to the Brockville Country Club's Karen Mahon rink that went undefeated (5 & 0) to win the Ontario Curling Association's 2015 Best Western Challenge. This event is a Provincial Championship for club teams. There were regional play-downs in 16 different parts of the province with two teams coming out of each region leading to a 32-team field for the championship. The championship competition started Friday evening January 16th at the Stirling Curling Club and concluded with final games Sunday January 18th at the Prince Edward Curling Club. It was a double knock-out for the first two games, then  a single loss going forward knocked a team out. Karen's team went 5 straight to win the championship.
Pictured above (l to r) are Annie Allan (lead); Colleen Quinn (second); Cindy Dalgleish (vice) and skip Karen Mahon. The banner being held by the gals will have their names embroidered on it by the OCA before being presented in a ceremony at the BCC by the OCA. CONGRATULATIONS Karen and team for representing yourselves and the BCC so well with this great win.

BCC's FUN Spiel a FUN Time

The Brockville Country Club held a "FUNSPIEL" at the club Saturday, January 17, 2015. Open to all; members and non-members; experienced curlers and non-experienced curlers, it turned out to be a fun time. Instruction was provided and make-up teams were put together for 2 four-end games. It was a great way to introduce new curlers to the game. Some 40 attended this "funspiel" which was followed by a pub-style dinner.
The next "Funspiel" is scheduled for Saturday, February 7, 2015 and is being organized by Lisa Taylor. Dubbed a "Mystery Funspiel" there seems to be some mystery surrounding it .. so you will have to attend to uncover what the mystery is. The spiel will start at 10:00 AM with a 6-end game; followed by lunch, then another 6-end game starting around 1:00 PM. All for just $20.00 per person. Again this funspiel is open to members and non-members and experience is not a necessity. Come join us at the next FUNSPIEL being held Saturday, February 7, 2015 on our super 6-sheet curling facility.

BCC New Year's Eve Bash a Blast

Brockville, December 31, 2014 -  The New Year's Eve dinner/dance was a great evening for BCC members and guests. A good crowd turned out to a dinning and dance area really nicely decorated by Emily. The colour scheme and lighting was very effective. Chef Jason and his staff presented a tasty meal with a number of options for the main course. Live music was provided by the Tim Hallman Trio and they did their usual fine job.
As the clock struck 12, champagne, horns, hats and streamers were distributed to the boisterous crowd who brought in the New Year singing Auld Lang Syne. It was a good night and the weather was really cooperative.
The next dinner/show/dance will be a St Patrick's Day celebration Saturday, March 14, 2015. The versatile and entertaining Spencer Evans will be playing and taking requests. Do you think you can stump him?
Then it is getting ready for the Summer Series of Dinner/Show/Dances in the Granite Hall. We have a great line-up of events including a special Brockville Youth Showcase. Stay tuned for more information on BCC's Summer Series as we head into spring.
