TRACKMAN Technology at the BCC Already Proving Popular

Derek has a vision ... and that's seeing the Brockville Country Club being one of the best training facilities in Eastern Ontario. To assist in his goal, Derek has brought "Trackman" the world's leading Precision Swing & Ball Flight Analysis equipment to the BCC.
Operational at the BCC now for a week, already some 50 members have used the Doppler Radar technology and have been "Pretty Wow'd". Derek will utilize three aspects in his training roll; a) club fitting by using the Trackman numbers, b) lessons utilizing Trackman to make concepts more clear and c) the "Combine", which sees users hit 60 shots to obtain a score out of 100 when hitting balls to 60 yards; 70, 80, 90, 100, 120, 140, 160, 180 yards & driver.
The Trackman is very technical; but that's Derek's domain; and very "feel" oriented and simple to use which is the student's domain.
Given Derek's vision, the BCC now has the latest training technology available nowhere else between Ottawa and Toronto. Contact Derek for your lesson(s) and experience the new TRACKMAN technology.

BCC's Ladies Opening Played in Cool Temps

The Brockville Country Club's Ladies division held their 2013 Opening, Saturday, May 25, 2013 in trying conditions. The temperature, when starting, was a "balmy" 8 degrees Celsius with wet conditions. But fifty-four ladies braved the elements (50% of their membership) to have a fun 'Opening". The 8:30 AM shotgun start was followed by a delicious lunch in BCC's dining room. A Ryder Cup format was used (Holes 1-6 Best Ball; 7-12 Alternate Shot; and 13-18 Scramble) with the team of Marsha Lindsay and Pam Frost posting the lowest score. Congratulations to Sandi Stewart for organizing a well run 2013 Ladies Opening.

John Frost Makes Hole-In-One on BCC's Tough #3

John Frost ace'd the Brockville Country Club's tough hole #3 to become the second person this 2013 season to claim the Hole-In-One feat. That's John on the right in the photo in case you weren't sure.
John was playing with Pam Frost (yup on left) and Mark Vellard and Josie Bekkedam. Using a 4 wood from the white tees, John nailed the long par 3 hole #3, even made longer with the flag cut at the back of the green. This is John's fourth (4th) hole-in-one; the second here at the Brockville country Club and the other two coming at his former club of Beaconsfiield, Montreal. CONGRATULATIONS John on your latest Hole-In-One.

Great Turnout for BCC Men's 2013 Opening

Saturday, May 11th saw 110 Brockville Country Club Men Members brave a dreary, cool and windy day for the 2013 Men's Opening Tournament. The forecast was for rain, but fortunately everyone stayed dry.
Three-man teams were put together based on handicaps, so teams were very evenly matched for the 9:00 AM shotgun start, which  followed a breakfast sandwich in the golf lounge. After play, all were treated to a fine lunch by BCC's Food & Beverage staff. Prizes were presented to the normal "sandbagging" comments but the camaraderie was what made the day. Well done Mike O'Reilly and your organizing team for a great 2013 Men's Opening.

100th Anniversary "25 Cents per 3-Putt" Fund Raising Project

The Brockville Country Club will be celebrating its 100th Anniversary next year. A committee has been formed, chaired by Susan Healy, to bring a full slate of activities together for celebration during our 2014 anniversary year. One project is to raise the money to enable a "centenary project" to be completed. That project is the upgrade to BCC's driving range and practice area. Grant monies will be sought, but also the nickels and dimes will be needed.

So last night the Legacy fund raising Project of "25 Cents per 3-Putt" was launched. Whether members or guests, we ask players to keep track of the number of times they 3-putt during their round of golf. Then drop 25 cents per 3-putt into the legacy box located at the bar. It can be fun and it can help the club raise monies towards the range upgrade. Even if you forget how many 3-putts you had, drop some of your spare change into the Legacy box. Your support is much appreciated.

Men's Tuesday Twilight Underway for 2013

The Men's Tuesday Night Twilight for 2013 got underway last evening with over 80 members taking part. A new year, means new teams, but it seems many of the low scorers are the same. And here we thought the handicap system worked. Tuesday twilight is a fun time and the format allows for informal play without having to commit to a specific Tuesday evening. Many thanks to Larry Bolton and Peter Publow who put consider effort into running the league. We are off to a great start. And as Larry says it's "the most fun you will ever have on a Tuesday evening"
