When Sonny organizes it, you know it will be a blast. And it was! The "Scramble" actually started Friday evening, July 29th in the BCC golf lounge, with a spaghetti dinner. Yup, that's Sunny first in line. Following the great meal, the fun process of putting the teams together started. Sonny and his volunteers had separated the 108 signed-up players into six(6) boxes, based on handicap. Then the draw process began to form the 36 3-person teams. One "A" or "A+" as captain, one "B" or "B+" as second and one "C" or "C+" as the third member of each team. With close to 100 players turning out for the Friday evening session, you can bet the kibitzing made for a fun evening.With the teams established, everyone returned Saturday morning July 30th for a breakfast, as part of the package, and to select their favourite teams.
At 12:30 PM Saturday the horn sounded to start the shotgun start with two teams (six players) on each hole to play the scramble. And it was a beautiful sunny day for Sonny's scramble .... we are sure all part of the organizing!
Following play, everyone again gathered in the golf lounge for the prize presentations. Given the draw process, the teams were very even giving everyone a chance for both the "gross" and "net" prizes. Thanks to Sonny Clark, Jonathan O'Reilly and their team of volunteers for organizing such a super event. You can be assured, we are all looking forward to the next "Sonny's Scramble".
