Have you noticed how good the benches on the Brockville Country Club's golf course look now that many have been repaired and painted? Well you have member and volunteer Ted Clayton to thank for that. The benches weigh a "ton!". They have concrete ends, each of which takes a couple of strong people to move. Ted has disassembled benches on the course then transported them to the Granite Hall where he has power washed and painted the concrete ends; repaired and painted boards; transported everything back to the course and reassembled the bench at the golf-hole location. Quite a process!
Ted, pictured above, has certainly had some off-and-on help to move the heavy benches around. Included are John Nightingale, Bill Lumsden, Ian Stewart, Kal Robertson, Travis Brennan, Kevin Harper, Rocci Pagnello (and probably missed a couple .. sorry). Gary Lalonde has also donated some wood for benches.
This bench restoration (some 34 in all) is a major project which will not be completed until late fall or next spring.Next time you see Ted, thank him for his volunteer efforts. He certainly deserves it.
