The Brockville Country Club golf course will open for play Tuesday April 28, 2015. It has been a hard cold winter, but the course has come through it in fine fashion and is in great shape. A work crew of some 40 plus, made up of staff and members, conducted a clean-up on Sunday morning, April 19th.
You will notice some exciting changes when you play the course. An example is the large rock face on the right side of the fairway across from our stately big oak tree on hole #7. The work crew has exposed the rock making it much more visually interesting and will surely direct more golf balls hit onto the rock back onto the fairway. The picture below gives an idea of what it will look like.
Congratulations to all our volunteers for coming out and helping to clean up our golf course of winter residue. Your contributions are very much appreciated. Now instead of rakes and shovels, it can be golf clubs that you start swinging! Trust everyone will have a great 2015 golf season. And don't forget to signed up for one or more of the various golf leagues. It is a great way to enhance your club experience.

2015 BCC "Summmer Series" Ready to Launch May 2nd in the "Granite Hall".
The Brockville Country Club's Summer Series of Dinner/Show/Dances is ready to launch with the first performance scheduled for Saturday, May 2, 2015. The dinner/show includes a tasty 3-course meal prepared by Chef Jason & staff. A Caprese Salad; Poached Lemon Dill Salmon over rice & seasonal vegetables and Cherry Cheesecake dessert (A main turkey meal is available as an option). Following dinner, the entertaiment will feature Kelli Trottier and Band.
Kelli performed last year at the BCC and put on a wonderful performance. She is a "Triple Threat" performer: Angelic Voice; Crisp Fiddler & Fiery Stepdancer. Kelli toured the world as featured soloist in the Sensational String Production "Bowfire". She has been nominated 3 times for Fiddler Player-of-the-Year by the Canadian Country Music Association. She has performed live with The Family Brown, Randell Prescott, Wayne Rostad and more. Nine independent recordings have been released and Kelli has been inducted into the Celtic Music Hall of Fame. This will be a performance you will not want to miss.
So get a gang together and come to the BCC for some fine cuisine and a great performance by Kelli Trottier and her Band. That's Saturday, May 2, 2015. Get your dancing shoes and come join the fun.

"Uppity Improv" One Year Anniversary Held
Saturday, April 4, 2015 - The Uppity Improv Society's one year anniversary Fool's Day Show was held at the Brockville Country Club Saturday evening. The BCC's main dinning room was converted to incorporate a cabaret stage and seating right in front of the stage. Lights and sound added to the setting. Some 70 people attended the show dubbed "To REVIVE a MOCKINGBIRD". It was a hilarious evening of improvised comedy where suggestions from the audience drove the show.
Congratulations to Mark and Laura Oliver and Curt Geneau for a year of improvised comedy. The Uppity Improv Society meets Tuesday evenings at the Brockville Country Club for rehearsals and should you wish to get involved, the Society would welcome your participation.

Curling Wraps up with Year End Banquet - No Fooling!
Wednesday, April 1, 2015 saw some 80 Brockville County Club curlers enjoying a delicious meal at their year-end banquet held in the Club's curling lounge. The luncheon was attended by curlers from the Monday and Wednesday senior leagues as well as the Men's Coffee Club. A big thank you to Wayne Byers for organizing the senior afternoon curling and Warner Bischof for convening the Coffee Club.
All curling leagues warp up this week and soon members should be out swinging the golf clubs. A quick turn-around is needed to "take the ice out" and convert the curling rink into the "Granite Hall" in time to host a major Brockville & District Hospital Foundation fund raising Gala being held April 25th and the first BCC Summer Series Dinner/Show/Dance featuring Kelli Trottier, May 2nd.

St Paddy's Day Party at the BCC was a Real Blast!
Saturday, March 14, 2015 saw Brockville Country Club members and guests celebrate St. Patrick's Day in fine fashion. It was a pub night! It started with a dinner of pizza and salad, and a good helping of beer and wine. Spencer Evans (keyboard, clarinet, accordion, singer) and his son Oscar on drums started with a medley of good old Irish Songs then moved into taking song requests from the audience.
It was a fun evening. Spencer played for 4 hours with only a 15 minute break. Amazing! Requests steamed in from the audience. Spencer said afterwards that he had never gotten so many requests in one night. It was fun trying to stump him which is nearly impossible.
So no need to celebrate St. Patrick's Day on Tuesday, March 17th. Brockville Country Club has already done so!!
It is now time to start thinking about BCC's Summer Series of Dinner/Show/Dances which will be held in BCC's "Granite Hall" this Summer. First up is Kelly Trottier, Saturday May 2nd, so get your tickets early!

Golf Season Almost Here - Think BCC membership
There may still be snow on the ground, but the Brockville Country Club is gearing up for the golf season. The BCC is a great course. Being a member has many benefits. Not the least of which is the ability to join various leagues. These leagues are a great way to meet members while easily "getting a game" evenings or during the day. Now is a good time to join. A golf membership bonus package is available as described in the ad which appeared in the SNAP March issue.
Membership gives full access to all aspects of the BCC on a year-round basis. Come join your friends. You will be glad you did!
