Club Champions Crowned Aug 20th Weekend at the BCC

Through a storm delay Saturday and a heavy rain delay then suspension Sunday for lightning, players persevered during the stormy weekend of August 20 - 21 allowing the Brockville Country Club to crown its Club Champions. Some 144 players took part in the various flights. In the end Leigh Ann Ellis becomes the women's champion for the 11th time firing an even par 72 then a par 37 (109) for the 27 holes. Mike O'Reilly becomes men's Club Champion for the first time in a wide-open men's "A" division shooting even par 72 then 78 (150) for the 36 hole marathon.Mike, second from left is toasted following his Men's "A" Club Championship. 2nd was Logan Warren (152), Jack Laforty & Nick Souder at 153, Phil Nihmey at 154 and defending champ Ardis Lindsay & Adam Folco at 155. Men's "B" Champ is Scott Moore at 77 (restricted to one round). One shot back was Paul Darby, John Rennick & Thomas Moran and 2 back Jason Easton. Men's "C" Champ is Tom Blanchard at 84 & one shot up on John Ackerman, 2 up on Ted Allen and 3 up on Gary Bruce. Men's "D" Champ is Henry Horbay at a 94 and one up on Mike Moran. In Seniors Men's, the Champ is Chris Boyd with a 147 for the 2 rounds. That was 6 ahead of Ray Lumsden and 11 better than 3rd Paul Sloan. In Super Seniors Men's, the Champ is George Hamilton with a 10 shot lead over Warren Richardson.


Leigh Ann Ellis, the Ladies "A" Champ managed the feat by being 10 shots ahead of Emily Peters and 14 better than Teri deLuis. In the Ladies "A+" class Lucy Pouliot shot an 85 then a 43 for the second day 9 to take the class. That was 6 shots better than Marsha Lindsay and 10 better than Sandi Stweart. In Women's "B", Denise Fraser took top spot with Sue Blanchart taking low net. In Women's "C", Linda Lunsden won low gross with Ded Souder taking low net. In Senior Womens, Heather Morgan captured top spot with Sharon Ellis winning low net.


It was a great Brockville Country Club Championship., even considering the weather, with a total of 144 players being the largest turnout in many years.
